Online Casino Bonuses Guide

Casino Bonuses

Online casinos give new players sign-up bonus offers to entice them to play. Existing players receive ongoing casino bonuses and are also rewarded with loyalty points which the player converts to free chips. There are three main bonus formats that are used by online casinos.

Cashable Casino Bonus

As the name implies the player is permitted to cash in the bonus money received. However there are conditions applied to a cashable bonus. EG - If the casino player has received a no deposit bonus, he or she will be required to put this free bonus cash into play a number of times before being allowed to cash-out. The play through varies at each casino but generally online casinos have a 30x play through requirement.

If the bonus is applied to a first deposit then the player will have to play through both the deposit and the casino bonus before being allowed to cash out. EG - Play A deposits £100 and receives a 100% sign-up bonus of £100. The deposit plus the bonus (£100 + £100) x 30 = £6,000 of wagering is required before player A can make a casino withdrawal.

In addition to the play through requirement, online casinos usual exclude certain types of games from being played when a bonus is in play. Casino games that allow even money bets such as roulette, craps and even blackjack are usually not allowed to be played whilst fulfilling the terms & conditions of a casino bonus. It is always advised that before accepting any online casino bonus that you read the attached bonus conditions and play through requirements.

Match Play Bonus

This type of casino bonus requires the player to make a nominated cash value deposit. The play either has to place their deposit into play a number of times to receive the match play bonus or the casino will credit the match to the players account without a play through quota. However which ever way this bonus is given, the play will be required to place his or her deposit plus the match bonus into play x number of times before being able to withdrawal.

Sticky Casino Bonus

You may occasionally come across a casino bonus which is referred to as “sticky”. What this means is that when you make a withdrawal from the casino the amount of bonus that was credited to your account will be deducted from your casino account balance. Therefore, the bonus is for wager purposes only, and so whilst you can keep the winnings generated from it, you can not keep the stake.

Online Casino Bonuses Summary

When comparing casino bonuses make sure to check the percentage and maximum amount, whether the bonus is "Sticky", how much you have to wager before you can withdraw and if any games are prohibited from counted towards the wagering. NB - Some online casino may strictly enforce their play through bonus terms and conditions - especially if you are a new sign-up. Make sure you do not play restricted games when playing with a bonus. Otherwise you run the risk of forfeiting your winnings.
